How It Works

1. Outdoor Unit

  • Like other ductless systems, a cassette unit connects to an outdoor heat pump through a refrigerant line set
  • The outdoor unit absorbs or releases heat, depending on whether the system is in heating or cooling mode

2. Indoor Ceiling Cassette

  • The indoor cassette is recessed into the ceiling, with only a flat grille visible
  • A fan inside the unit circulates air across a coil filled with refrigerant

3. Heating Mode

  • The outdoor unit absorbs heat from the outside air, even in cold weather
  • Refrigerant carries this heat indoors to the cassette unit
  • The cassette releases the heat into the room through its fan system

4. Cooling Mode

  • The process reverses
  • The cassette absorbs heat from inside the room and transfers it outdoors through the refrigerant cycle

5. 360° Air Distribution

  • Most cassettes have four-way airflow, meaning cool or warm air is blown out in all directions
